I’m three when I stand,
Two when I lean,
None when I ‘m on my own.
I’m upside, down side,
One side, two,
Boring when only on loan.
Buy me, possess me,
Hide me, caress me,
Make me feel I belong.
Draw on me, write on me,
Fill me with symbols,
Paintings, equations or song.
I’ll love you for ever,
Hate you like never,
Make you feel Oh so strong!
Be there supporting,
Your play or your sporting,
So long as you take me along.
Leave me with splashes,
With dots or with dashes,
I’ll happily take what you give.
Stand here forever,
Awaiting your pleasure,
For this is the reason I live.

Ah…that was one of my guesses and I dismissed it because of “none when I’m on my own”…. and “”boring when on loan…” which I thought were meaningful clues…but as it turns out…are not! 🙂
