Moments and Memories

****

Watching spaces lightly falling
Pulled from all their hiding places
Caught by butterfly licks of light feathers
Brushed by breezes blowing past

Brought to fullest sunshine
As the moment was
Now gone
Yet never lost

Coloured by the way we felt then
Feel now
Taken to our being
Held in high esteem
Whilst living in this moment
Creating the next memory
To hold, hide, hope for more.

Bridge of Time – NaPoWriMo 2015 – Day 28 (to prompt)

I went from ‘here’ to ‘there’ in the blink of an eye
So fast that sides were not seen
Let alone touched
If there were even sides
Which I’m not sure there were.

I don’t know
One moment ‘here’, the next, ‘there’
Amazing!

But now ‘there’ is ‘here’
So where is here?
And be quick
Before this ‘here’ becomes a past ‘there’
You know, where I was then
In the past
When I knew which was ‘there’ and ‘here’
Where there was a difference
Before the bridge
Took it all away
Jumping water, crossing valley
Bridging time
‘Here’ to ‘there’

Dang, there it goes
Now we’re’ there’, not ‘here’ anymore
Or has ‘there’ now become ‘here’?

Yep, we’re here now
Not ‘there’
‘There’ has happened
Or is it still to come?

Maybe we should just stay on the bridge
Perpetually in between ‘there’ and ‘here’
Ha! Now that will take some courage
I wonder if it’s even possible
To be neither ‘here’ nor ‘there’
Simply ‘Now’
Or is that ‘here’
Or, once it’s past, ‘there’?

Maybe ‘here’ and ‘there’ are really everywhere
All at one time
The here and now
The there and now

But then, who needs a bridge?

The prompt for today: “to write a poem about bridges. A bridge is a powerful metaphor, and when you start looking for bridges in poems, you find them everywhere. Your poem could be about a real bridge or an imaginary or ideal bridge. It could be one you cross every day, or one that simply seems to stand for something larger – for the idea of connection or distance, for the idea of movement and travel and new horizons.”

Do hope you enjoy my effort! My brain is still fuzzed! 🙂

Time – Poetry 201 – Day 10 (last day!)

The details for this final day of ‘Writing 201 – Poetry’ are to write a sonnet with the prompt of the future using Chiasmus (essentially a reversal of words, phrases or concepts).

I wrote ‘Time 2’ first (after much editing!), then realized it wasn’t in iambic pentameter! So, I played with it to get it there (okay – almost!) – see ‘Time 1’. Iambic pentameter is the more classic and recognized meter for a sonnet. These days however, it seems we do have a little more room! I have also mixed the rhyming structure between the original Italian  sonnets and….well…my own (I think!).

So, some help please:- a) are these sonnets? and b) which do you prefer and why?

All suggestions very welcome! Am a little confused on this one especially as I prefer Time 2 as a poem!

So, to the poems:

Time 1
By moving forwards back, then backwards fore,
The game’s afoot, now time’s illusion gaunt,
To live in the past, where hopes lie tattered and taunt,
Or move to the future, where hopes lie scattered galore,
A difficult choice when always searching for more,
With opening pathways appearing so nonchalant,
And ghosts of the past reappear, continuing to haunt,
It’s all so confusing, and hurts us to the core.
To live in a moment full of pain and frustration,
Or live in the moment present, feel the perfection,
It is ours to choose, ours to make a selection,
Forwards or backwards or, simply, take no direction,
Living, enjoying the moment we find ourselves in,
Love it, be grateful and ask it to fold us within.

Time 2
Moving forwards and backwards, then backwards and fore,
The game’s now afoot, time illusive and gaunt,
Could live in the past where my hopes lie and taunt,
Or move to the future, where hopes lie galore,
A difficult choice when searching for more,
With opening pathways so nonchalant,
And ghosts of the past continuing to haunt,
It’s all so confusing, it hurts to the core.
To live in a moment full of frustration,
Or live in the moment, feel the perfection,
It is ours to choose, to make a selection,
Forwards or backwards or take no direction,
Simply enjoying the moment we’re in,
Live it and love it, enfold us within.

Rise Above

SAMSUNG

If I could only rise above
Where willows fly
And lovers love

As, truth be told,
I don’t believe
That such a love can here behold

So hope lies forward
Future bound
To find my leading light

To fill my soul
Complete, replete
And find the dream within me sleeps

Another Day

Another day expired,
Moments lived and died,
Fleeting thoughts, prophecies,
Deepful truth, lies.

Feeling more than words can say,
Saying more than feel,
Taking on to stretch the soul,
Discarding all unreal.

Past gone, present here,
Future lies awaiting,
‘Carpe Diem’ lies the land,
Breathing, quiet, abating.
