Friends Moving On

For NaPoWriMo/GloPoWriMo 2016 – Day 28 (not to prompt)

You’re leaving?
How can that be?
It seems so short a time
Since we first met over coffee,
Discussed business,
Talked life,
How best to make the change,
What would cause least strife,
As you headed for your goal,
A life close to the land,
Eating from the soil,
With no computer in the hand.
Ah, how life can make such turns,
As your dream starts to unfold,
Leads you down a route,
Where you have to be so bold,
For how could we have guessed,
At the start of your new plan,
That the road to your fulfillment
Was paved in another land?
So, as we watch you go,
Hearts heavy with our loss,
We’re happy with your finding
This new path you came across.
We wish you all the best
As you take the adventure on,
Our love and thoughts go with you,
Be brave, be proud, be strong!

Happy New Year - Dec 31 2015

In Gregorian terms,
Another year,
Slides gently
To the past.

We start a new one,
Once again,
How long
Will this one last?

The Century turned
A short while back,
Now look
Where we are.

Wars span the globe,
Life seems cheap,
Claims her share.

From prophecies
Is this the end?
Is nigh?

Or one more cycle,
Part of life,
A never-ending

Whatever is
To come for us,
I wish you
Your best year yet.

With memories
And loved ones
You never
Will forget.

Happy New Year!

Last Breath – NaPoWriMo 2015 – Day 27 (to prompt!)

with me
through the garden,

my hand,
prevent my fall,

the process
through it all,

with me
on the patio,

Watch birds playing
Catch last breath

Today’s prompt: “It’s the hay(na)ku)….a variant on the haiku. A hay(na)ku consists of a three-line stanza, where the first line has one word, the second line has two words, and the third line has three words. You can write just one, or chain several together into a longer poem.” Maureen directs us to Vince Gotera who ends his with a couplet of three words per line to create a hay(na)ku sonnet. Simple yet effective, yes?

Break A Trend – NaPoWriMo 2015 – Day 12 (off prompt)

Taken to a journey’s end,
I trip and fall, twist and bend,
Would it were the wending way,
Sadly t’was my wedding day!
What a way to break a trend.

Not following the prompt today – just popping in with a bit of fun – well it’s almost a limerick…and it’s Sunday!

Enjoy! 🙂

New Years Eve – 2014

The year draws to a close,
Days, they fuzz so fast,
A misty veil ‘tween then and now,
A future from the past.

So here’s to all the year has brought,
Thoughts, experiences, life,
Maybe, in the year to come,
A little less of strife?

Time in measurement,
Oh, so strange,
A moment, here, to pass,
And passing so, in blink of eye,
Another year has passed.

I wish all well for the year to come,
May it bring all you require,
In silent moments, know yourself,
Your secrets and desires.

And in this knowledge, fully known,
A growth of sorts takes place,
And in this moment, year to pass,
Be filled with peace and grace.

Your soul knows where it’s heading,
Drives you forward still,
In every situation,
Fulfilling Divine Will,

Just let it be….

Christmas Day 2014

To all readers celebrating Christmas today:

Christmas Day dawns bright and clear
Here in the Southern Hemisphere
Maybe cold and dank
In many other spheres

Yet celebrating as you will
Religion or tradition dictates
A day of giving, goodwill and peace
A day full of good cheer

So this I wish for all who relate
However you celebrate
If this day is yours and something special you feel
May all good things come your way
And the Spirit your dreams fulfill
