Life’s Moments

****

Sunday rises,
Yet I’m not sure I see it,
Through the misty veils of sight,
It feels grey, rainy,
Cold.

Last vestiges of winter take their bite
Into hibernation,
Waiting,
For summer will pass,
As all seasons do,
Faster and faster,
Each year blurring to the next,
One long tapestry of life and time,
No divide,
No partition,
Moments
Made
Of
This.

        • Enjoy… beware of the rabbit hole though! As you know, it can get dark down there! And if time is an illusion – could space be too? Is everything perspective and perception? If so, we can change in an instant, can we not? In which case, the dark there could be a pathway to the light, if we choose to see it that way, yes?
The choice is ours, from the strength we have within, and the worse our history, the stronger we must be within, otherwise we would not have survived, would not have learnt, would not be able to shine our light to help others. The trauma of the past builds the character and strength of the present for the light of the future – if we choose to see it so.? … 🙂

          • What a concept…perspective truly can make the difference in whether there is light in the dark. We can chose not to see the path to happiness if we are staring only at one spot. Although our past is black, we chose to find the light and like you said, now we can help others. I’m sure that now we can create our own light, to aid others and continually heal ourselves.

Your last sentence is indeed so true, I will always see it that way now – and what a good view of life that is to have.(:

            • You got it! Think you had it already? 🙂 The light is always there – we are all light! Sometimes, we may have just forgotten that, then we need reminding and choose whether we want to remember or cling to the darkness. However, in time, we will all remember and, through special people like yourself with your writing and your love, more people get the opportunity to remember quicker (if that makes sense?!) – just my thoughts! 🙂

              • I definitely do need reminding – I get bogged down in dark thoughts occasionally as do many people. I’m so pleased that you believe my writing can help others – for I write for that purpose, not just to heal myself. It does make sense, and I completely agree. I’m so glad I found your poem and began to discuss these topics with you 🙂 They are so vital to everyone’s life, but too often forgotten or neglected.

  1. Life is indeed a series of moments–some dull, some exhilarating. I want more of the latter than the former, but don’t always get cooperation from the army of obstacles in my way: the milk carton past its sell-by date; shy, inglorious sunsets; another inarticulate phrase; the damp cold of a winter day on a petite, semitropical isle.

Of course these are minor niggles. Good health is paramount. I sincerely hope your eyes, such precious tools, cooperate for you.

    • Thank you Prospero. An army of sell-by date, inglorious sunsets, phrasing semitropical winter days could be, comparatively, anything but minor I suspect. However, good health being above all else, as you so correctly state, definitely demands the cooperation of all imperative organs – imagine doubling the size of said army! I shudder!
As ever, your comment and wishes are much appreciated – and my above ramblings simply display the level my highest organ has sunk to in its desperation methinks!
      Oh dear!

  2. “Sunday rises, yet I’m not sure I see it….” What a wonderful encapsulation of that vague feeling that time is flowing and we cannot “catch” it. For me, any day of the week could be substituted for Sunday. And with age, it seems to go even faster…..”breakfast time every thirty minutes” as Noel Coward is reported to have said. Then there’s the actual physical seeing, when the eyes are tired of looking and don’t want to focus……I hope the double vision is on its way to clarity, Rob. Take care. I enjoyed reading this poem, as I am in a similar mood this Sunday morning.

    • Lovely comment – thank you Cynthia. Yes, you know I walked into the shower on Monday and when I came out, it was Friday! 🙂
The double vision improving when rested, thank you – and I do hope you flow pleasantly through your Sunday/week! 🙂
Pleased you enjoyed the read and thank you for your comment!

  3. Well said Rob! All moments arise from the current ‘ now’ don’t they and as now is all we have we need to make the most of it grey, or bright I guess.

Does the ‘misty veils of sight’ refer to your current blurred/double vision? If so I sincerely hope it gets better for you very soon. 😊
